Many Muslim women are now marrying outside the faith. Many often experience trauma from family members who insist on the traditional interpretation that a Muslim woman can only marry a Muslim man.
Professor Khaleel Muhammad of San Diego State University will be offering an alternative interpretation of the Quran on this issue.
Lecture will be followed by Q&A.

About Professor Khaleel Muhammed:
Born in Guyana, schooled in Guyana, Mexico, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Syria, Yemen and the US. Read law at Muhammad b. Saudi University in Saudi Arabia and a Ph. D in Islamic Law at McGill. He has published several academic articles, chapters in books, and encyclopedia articles. He is one of the few Muslim scholars to officiate interfaith weddings.
